BCU Foundation Partners on New Campaign to Power Ukrainian Communities

BCU Foundation is proud to announce a new collaboration with Roxolani Trust, a Ukrainian charitable foundation led by Canadian entrepreneur Ryan Grant Little. This collaboration will provide critical power solutions to hospitals, schools, group homes, and vulnerable communities across Ukraine.
The initiative builds on the success of Roxolani’s winter campaign that funded the delivery of 14 power systems to hospitals, clinics, shelters, and resource centres serving children with special needs in frontline and high-risk regions, including Kherson and Zaporizhzhia. These systems continue to provide reliable electricity and support essential services despite ongoing attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
This summer, the project is being expanded significantly thanks to a generous $100,000 anchor donation from the Whitmer Trudel Charitable Foundation, founded by Robert and Francine Ruggles. The campaign aims to raise an additional $100,000 through individual and community donations across Canada.
As part of this partnership, BCU Foundation will facilitate donations from Canadian supporters and issue charitable tax receipts. Working alongside Roxolani Trust and international partners, the campaign will fund generators, power stations, solar panels, and related equipment tailored to the specific needs of recipient organizations.
Priority will be given to:
- Hospitals and medical facilities outside major urban centres
- Group homes serving vulnerable populations, including children, seniors, and persons with disabilities
- Schools affected by power outages or lacking reliable grid access
- Communities requiring access to basic electricity for communication, lighting, and water filtration
Roxolani Trust will oversee recipient selection, delivery, installation, and impact reporting, ensuring that donor contributions directly support those most in need.
Russia has spent years targeting Ukraine’s electrical grid. Even if the war ended tomorrow, hospitals, schools, and villages across the frontline oblasts won’t have reliable power next winter. Through this partnership, BCU Foundation is helping ensure that critical institutions can continue operating and serving their communities through the coming winter and beyond. We need to take action this summer so everything can be installed before it gets cold again.
