The fund supports the distribution of such publications to universities, colleges and libraries, and also provides research assistance by young scholars.
Background: Dmytro Huley and Maria Chornyj were born in Ukraine. They survived the Polish, Nazi and Soviet occupations of Ukraine, witnessed the horror and devastation of World War II, and suffered through the hardship of the working camps in Germany.
Dmytro Huley lived for a free, democratic, and independent Ukraine. From a young age, he was active in Ukrainian youth organizations. Later, in Canada, his analytical articles about the past, present, and future of Ukraine often appeared in Ukrainian-Canadian newspapers and periodicals. Throughout her life, Maria Huley tirelessly worked in many Ukrainian-Canadian community organizations for the good of her beloved Ukraine.
