Designation: The fund was created by the League of Ukrainian Canadian Women to honour the founders of Buduchnist Credit Union — post-war political refugees forced to flee their ancestral homeland. The fund, which continues to receive donations from organizations and private donors, supports the collection of interviews, articles, publications, films, commemorative activities, and other endeavours that help document, preserve, or disseminate information on the experiences of post-World War II Ukrainian immigrants who passed through Pier 21 in Halifax to build a new life in Canada.
